Avicola Bacco embraces sustainable refrigeration with CAREL solutions

Avicola Bacco, a leading company in the processing of poultry meat, has completed a major modernisation project at its plant by adopting a CO2 refrigeration system, developed with CAREL solutions and installed by MD Service Refrigerazione. The goal: to ensure the highest product quality, reduce energy consumption and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Founded in 1964 and specialising in the processing of duck and goose meat, Avicola Bacco decided to move away from high environmental impact synthetic refrigerants, opting instead for a system based on the natural refrigerant R-744. The new infrastructure includes 12 cold rooms with temperatures ranging from -18 °C to +15 °C, each managed with the utmost precision thanks to CAREL electronic controllers. At the heart of the system is a transcritical CO2 unit with a modulating ejector, controlled by a pRack p300T HS, which guarantees efficiency even during the hottest periods.

The project was developed by MD Service Refrigerazione which, in addition to installation, ensured the complete integration of control and supervision systems, with the CAREL boss platform able to monitor plant devices in real time and manage energy consumption.

Thanks to this innovation, Avicola Bacco has achieved tangible benefits: optimised product quality and freshness, energy and operational savings, lower maintenance costs and a significantly reduced environmental impact. “CAREL technology has enabled us to improve control over the preservation of our poultry meat, combining efficiency, energy savings and sustainability,” said Matteo Bacco, confirming the company’s commitment to quality and respect for the environment.
